The Flamingo Casino app: what it does and what it does not
The group's app is a loyalty and booking companion, not a way to play casino games.
Play online →There is no standalone Flamingo Casino gaming app. The group publishes one Sun International app covering its properties, and the Kimberley venue sits inside it. The app manages the Sun MVG loyalty account — points, tier, member offers, draw entries — and handles bookings across the group. It does not run casino games, because interactive online casino play is not licensed in South Africa. The group's mobile website carries the same information for anyone who would rather not install anything.
What the app is actually for
- The Sun International app covers the whole group, so Flamingo Casino appears inside it alongside the other properties rather than having a separate app of its own.
- Its core job is the Sun MVG loyalty account: point balance, tier status, member offers and draw entries.
- It also handles bookings across the group, which for a Kimberley visitor mostly means dining and function enquiries rather than rooms, since there is no hotel on this property.
- What it deliberately does not do is run casino games. Interactive online casino play is not licensed in South Africa, so no group app offers it.
- It is listed in the Apple and Google app stores; on a slower connection the group's mobile website carries the same information without using storage.
- The app cannot open the floor early. Slots run 09:00 to 02:00 and tables 17:00 to 01:30 regardless of what any screen says.
- Responsible-gambling information, including the national helpline 0800 006 008, is carried inside the group's digital channels as well as on site.
What the phone is useful for, stage by stage of a visit
| Stage | What the app is good for | What still happens in person |
|---|---|---|
| Before the drive | Checking tier status and which member offers are live | Confirming hours and restaurant tables with the venue |
| Arriving | Nothing — the door checks identification, not a screen | Age check at the entrance, 18 and over |
| On the slot floor | Seeing points accumulate against your card | Loading credit at the cash desk |
| At the tables from 17:00 | Nothing — chips are bought at the table | Buying in and reading the posted minimum |
| Leaving before 01:30 | Nothing — settlement is at the desk | Cashing out the card or the chips |
Why no casino app exists for this venue
South African law splits gambling in two. Sports and horse-racing betting with a bookmaker licensed by a provincial gambling board is lawful online; interactive online casino games are not licensed. A licensed land operator therefore has no lawful route to put slots or roulette into a South African app, and the group does not try to. Anything promising casino play 'from the Flamingo Casino app' did not come from the venue.
That leaves the app doing the jobs it can do well. For a visitor driving in from Bloemfontein or off the N12, the useful parts are the point balance and whichever member offers are running before committing to the trip. For everything tied to the building — hours, functions, restaurant tables — the venue's own channels remain the source.
What to install, and what not to
Only one application is worth having on a phone for this venue, and it is published by the group under its own name in the Apple and Google stores. Anything else advertising itself as a Flamingo Casino app — especially anything offering slots, a crash game or a 'download to claim' offer — is not connected to the building on the N12 and should not be installed.
The test is the same one that applies to promotional codes. A legitimate group app asks you to sign in to a loyalty record you already hold. It does not ask for a bank card in order to unlock play, and it does not promise casino games that cannot lawfully be offered to a South African player in the first place.
